Bonnie Hathcock Dollar joined her husband, son and loved ones in their heavenly home on Tuesday, February 28, 2017. She passed away peacefully at the home of her daughter where she received loving care for the past several years. Bonnie was born September 29, 1931 in Mesa, Arizona to Lola Isabelle Taylor Hathcock and Leslie Isaac Hathcock. She spent her childhood in Arizona and was a happy child, always striving to bring her mother joy.
As a teenager, her mother remarried and they spent the summers in Idaho. It was there, that she met a cute country boy with deep dimples named Ray Dollar. They were married October 4, 1948 in the LDS Salt Lake City Temple in Utah. They spent most of their married lives in Arizona, Idaho, and New Mexico. They were blessed with 11 children and have a great posterity of 196 including 72 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. They never had an excess of money, but counted themselves wealthy in children and love from their descendants.
Bonnie was blessed with many talents. She loved to sing and had a beautiful alto voice. She was an exceptional seamstress and began sewing her own clothes at the age of 9. One of her talents was shared with her husband, as she and Ray loved gardening and canning. Their gardens were beautiful and each year she won many blue ribbons including "Grand Champion". At the Centennial Celebration of the County Fair she was awarded top prize for her amazing talents. She will fondly be remembered by her children and grandchildren for the never ending supply of homemade cookies at grandma's house.
She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and enjoyed serving in many organizations. Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband, Ray, her son, Joseph Lovell, two sons-in-law, Rockey Smith and Vince Castelli and two grandchildren, Roxanne Smith and Sidney "Chas" Dollar, along with her mother, father and several siblings and other family members. She is survived by her two sisters, Marjorie Russell and Leona Huffman and her loving children, Linda Smith, Johnnie (Trisha) Dollar, Sidney (Becky) Dollar, Gary (Laura) Dollar, Patty (Brian) Carlson, Ronda Castelli, Janette (Kirby) Mortensen, Vickie (Dale) Brown, Jody (Mary) Dollar and Ray Dollar Jr.
The family would like to thank Ronda Castelli for the many years of service devoted to the care and comfort of our mother during the last years of her life. We also appreciate her care workers and other family members who showed their love through service and support.
