Bobby James Porter passed away on July 15, 2015, he was 73. He was born on December 13, 1941 in San Rafael, New Mexico to Julius Porter and Mary Archunde Porter.
Mr. Porter served in the United States Army during Viet Nam. He worked for the Anaconda Mine for 14 years as a crusher foreman. He spent 20 years with Santa Fe Coal at the Lee Ranch/ Peabody mine. He was an avid hunter, and a master gardener, but the time he spent as a family man was his proudest achievement. He was loved and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife Emily Porter of the family home. His daughters; Tammy Castillo and her husband Phillip of Grants, Natalie Porter-Nier and her husband Jason of Mystic, CT. His 4 grandchildren; Kris Restrepo, Austin Restrepo, Dylon Castillo, and Logan Nier. His sister; Zilla Padilla and her husband Joe. His brother; Jimmy Porter. Along with numerous other relatives that survive him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Julius and Mary Porter. His sister; Charlene Yanes. His brothers; Julius Porter Jr., Charlie Porter, Richard Porter, and Harold Porter.
On Friday July 17, 2015 at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church a visitation will begin at 5:00 PM, then at 7:00 PM a Rosary Vigil will be recited. On Saturday July 18, 2015 at 10:00 AM also at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church a Funeral Mass will be celebrated by Father Alberto Avella. Burial will follow at Grants Memorial Park, VFW Post #3221 will provide Military Honors.
Pallbearers include; Kris Restrepo, Austin Restrepo, Dylon Castillo, Hamp Porter, Buddy Garcia, and Phillip Ortega.
Honorary Pallbearers include; Floyd Garcia, Joe Sanchez, Phillip Castillo, Jason Nier, Logan Nier, Jimmy Porter, Joe Padilla, Dan Hill, George Rodriguez.
Cope Memorial Chapel of Gallup is entrusted with arrangements.
