Bob Grey, of Kirtland, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at Northern Navajo Medical Center. He was born on Jan. 1, 1939, in Mariano Lake, to Charlie and Elizabeth Grey. Bob was born to Red Streaked People Clan and born for Edge Water People Clan, Maternal clan start of the Red Streak People Clan, Paternal is Black Sheep.
Bob attended Intermountain School in Brigham City, Utah, and graduated with the class of 1958. He was employed with BHP Billiton for 28 years and retired in 2002. He was a participant of the Special Olympics while engaging in various sport events, winning many blue ribbons. Since he was a young boy was very active in a sport called rodeo. He was a "bad ass" cowboy in bull riding and team roping. On his leisure time he enjoyed playing pool, traveling, being with his family, welding/making wood stoves, and especially being with all his grandchildren and great grandchildren. The music and humor he shared will be cherished forever. He is proceeded in death by his son Chip Grey; parents, Elizabeth and Charlie Grey; brother Nelson Grey; sister Helen Charlie; and grandparents, Jesus Joe, Yanabah Arviso and Mabel H. Begay. Bob is survived by his wife Mary Ann Grey; son Dr. Barry Grey; daughter Cindy Frase; brothers, Tom Grey and Jimmie Grey; sisters, Mary Betty Charlie and Christine Begay; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16, at Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington. A service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, at Cope Memorial Chapel in Farmington. Interment will be in the Kirtland-Fruitland Cemetery, Road 6575 in Kirtland.
