Betty Whitey, 71, of Albuquerque, formerly of Carson, passed away on Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, in Albuquerque. She was born May 1, 1942, in Carson, to Jim Harvey and Bessie Whitey Jim.
Betty enjoyed doing arts and crafts, like beadwork and when she was younger she enjoyed weaving. She enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandkids.
She was preceded in death by her sons, Allen Woody and Alfred Jim; her parents; brother, Larry Whitey; sisters, Anne Smith, Evelyn Harvey and Eva Canuto; and her grandson, Nathan Jim.
Betty is survived by her sons, Irvin Jim, Wilfred Jim, Kevin Jim, Melvin Jim and Casey Jim; daughters, Bernice Strait, Priscilla Jim and Cecelia Chavez; brothers, Francis Jim, Harrison Jim and Edison Jim; sisters, Susie Whitey, Ruthie Clah, Mary Jim and Lucy Sylvester; 25 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, at Carson Faith Assembly of God in Carson, with Pastor Pauline Platero.
Burial will follow the service in Carson.
The reception will be announced at the service.
Pallbearers are Lorenzo Whitey, Larry Whitey Jr., Brandon Strait, Justin Jim, Alex Jim-Chavez and Rolando Eddie.
