Betty Van Huss
June 24, 1923 - October 23, 2014
Betty Louise Van Huss passed from this life on Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014. She had been a
resident of the Beehive Assisted Living Home for the last five months where she was
lovingly cared for by their dedicated staff. Betty was born June 24, 1923. She is
survived by her husband of 42 years Bill Van Huss. Betty is also survived by her
children W.R. and Louise Van Huss, Mary and Rick Swift, Ronnie and Tammy
Bingham, Carmen and Pat Price and Esther Nichols. She is also survived by her
grandchildren, Billy and J.T. Van Huss, Alanna McDuff, Pat and Terry Depas, and
Carrie and Caleb Price; great-grandchildren, Brody Van Huss, Jeremiah McDuff; and great-granddaughter McDuff on the way. She was preceded in death by
grandson David Swift,
Betty was a master seamstress. There was nothing that she could not create with
her sewing machine. She was also an innovative quilter often creating beautiful
work of art which she donated to various charities.
Betty was a member of a pioneer family in San Juan County. She loved nothing
more that bettering her community by volunteering her time, She was a lifelong
supporter of the 4-H Club and was also instrumental as a San Juan County Fair Board
member helping to bring the fair to its current location. Betty was a charter
member of the First United Methodist Church in Bloomfield. Betty was a friend to everyone and will be greatly missed.
