Bettie LaVerne (Yager) Swinscoe

August 1, 1932 — January 29, 2015

Bettie LaVerne Yager Swinscoe, 82, passed from this life on Thursday, January 29, 2015, in Farmington. Bettie was the daughter of John D. Yager and Mildred L. Webb. She was born August 1, 1932, in Kaw City, OK.
Mom, aka Grandma Bettie, was a good mom and wonderful grandma. She lived a full life, on her terms. She could shoot a 12 gauge shotgun hunting pheasants in Kansas with her dad, uncles, brothers and sons. She sewed beautiful clothes for her only daughter and taught her all about makeup. Bettie moved to Fort Collins, CO, in 1969, and soon after went to work for Poudre Valley Memorial Hospital in the Central Supply Dept. She became a Supervisor there and retired after 27 years. She was active in and loved being a member of the Moose Lodge. She was captain of the Billiards and Dart Teams, and organized many charitable events there, including the Toy Drive. Bettie was a fabulous cook and avid about taking pictures of events and friends; especially the "Norwegian Parade" in Fort Collins, and her many grandchildren and family. She could sing a mean Patsy Cline, whistle any song and loved a Colorado Bulldog (fat and tall), and her Denver Broncos.
Bettie was preceded in death by her long time companion, Larry Kite; sons Michael Byron Hunter; parents John D. Yager and Mildred L. Yager; brothers John Dale Yager, Jr. and Charles F. Yager; maternal grandparents, Winnie M. and Frank Webb; paternal grandparents Abigail and Franklin Yager; great grandson, Parker Lee Harpole; and granddaughter, Crystal D. Harpole.
Bettie is survived by her son, Wesley D. "Rusty" Hunter of Farmington, NM; daughter Deborah "Debbie" Harpole (Jerry) of Farmington, NM; and sister Beverly Damme (Don) of Pueblo West, CO. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Paula Bert of Wichita, Kansas; Courtney Acker (Stacey), of Derby, Kansas; Jake Harpole (Ashly) and JJ Harpole (Jennifer) of Farmington, NM; and Terry Harpole of Midland, Texas;
great grandchildren, Damon Bert, Andrew Bert, Trevon Hunter, Jackson and Abigail Harpole, Tisa DeLoach (Kirby), Trey Harpole, Amanda Harpole, Courtney Harpole, Dylan Harpole, Heather McKinney and 16+ great-great grandchildren.
