Bessie Hemstreet Lee was born on October 30, 1927 in Upper Fruitland to Jay Willie and Luiclle (Eldrigdge)Hemstreet.
Bessie passed away in Farmington on April 24, 2015 surrounded by her family.
Bessie loved weaving and a lot of her weaving went to Dr. De Kay. She loved to be working on her farm, she was the
best when it came to her home cooking. She enjoyed reading her bible and going to Arizona to the revivals. Bessie was
preceded in death by her husband Ben Lee, parents Jay Willie and Lucille Hemstreet, son Johnny Barber, daughter
Irene Jim, brother Stephen Hemstreet and sister Margaret Johnson. She is survived by her son Wilson Jim, sisters
Minnie Hemstreet, Elsie Whitey'Bekis, and Elouise Cecil, 6 grandchildren and 8 geat-grandchildren.
A service will be held on Tuesday April 28, 2015 at Desert View Church in Upper Fruitland at 10:00 a.m..
with Pastor James Fredy officiating. Pallbearers are Lorenzo Whitey,Greg Yazzie,Titus Howard,Jeffery Hemstreet,
Waylon Jim, Marvin Padilla, Honorary Pallbearers are Michael D. Benally Jr., and Nathaniel Howard. Bessie care is
entrusted to Cope Memorial Chapel 404 W. Arrington Street, Farmington, NM 505-327-5142
