Wife, Mother and Family Matriarch, Barbara J Roberds, 87, of Aztec, passed from this life late Monday evening, after a long battle with COPD. She was born on June 21, 1930 to Oliver and Evelyn Newton.
Barbara was surrounded in life with her family and friends at Cedar Hill and Aztec, at many family gatherings and holidays. She owned and operated Aztec Ruins Trading Post for many years (the love of her life) until she retired at home to take care of her husband and family.
Along time resident of Aztec and Cedar Hill, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas H. Roberds; parents, Oliver and Evelyn Newton; and brothers, Tom and Jack Newton.
Barbara is survived by her sons, Larry (JoAnn) Newton and Terry Newton; brother, Jerry (Roberta) Newton; grandchildren, Eric (Lily) Roberds, Mindy Geier and Bryan (Dana) Roberds; including several great grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.
Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers please make donations in her name to The Aztec Museum and Pioneer Village, 125 N. Main Ave., Aztec, NM or The Good Samaritan Society Home, 500 Care Ln., Aztec, NM.
