Antonio Jose Montoya

Antonio J.S. Montoya, 82 of Farmington passed from this life on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. He was born on November 27, 1933 to Jose and Eufanina Montoya in Durango, Colo. Antonio served with the USMC during Korea, and received the Purple Heart after being wounded in the battle of the Frozen Chosen. He also received the Korean Service Medal, UN Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Korean Presidential Unit Citation. He was very proud to be known as a Marine. He has also served with the VFW post 2182 Honor Guard. Antonio was preceded in death by his wife Mary Olga Montoya; daughter, Nannette M. Montoya, both parents; brother, Gilbert M. Montoya; sister, Victoria Trujillo. He is survived by his sons, Dante, Anthony and Alfred Montoya; daughter, Arlese Smith; sisters, Lucy Martinez, Priscilla Silva; brother, Richard Silva and 10 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. A memorial service will be at 11:00 am Friday May 20 at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute, Farmington, with Deacon Chavez officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are Brandon Lee, Jeffery Smith, Rochelle Smith, Travis Smith, Michael Montoya, Patrick Montoya, Aaron Montoya, and Adam Montoya. Antonio's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., in Farmington. (505)325-8688.
