Sonny Longo, a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to all, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, in Farmington. He was born on Dec. 8, 1942, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., to Gertrude French McCann.
He was an U.S. Navy veteran and later became an independent consultant in the oil and gas industry for over 40 years.
Sonny loved spending time with his family, hunting, fishing camping and traveling and spending time on the ranch.
He is survived by his wife Mary of Farmington; dad Sonny Southerland (Ruby) of Roswell; daughters, Kim Atchley (Wayne) of Carlsbad, Rae Lynn Longo, of Oklahoma; Twilla Thomas (John) of Pampa, Texas; sons, Jason Longo of Texico, Nathan Longo (Desiree Spill) of Tierra Amarilla and Jonathan Longo of Farmington; siblings, Bonnie Norton (T. W.) of Elida, Chuck Longo of Comanche, Texas and Debora Frazier (Cleve) of Star Valley, Nev.; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Tabitha, Tristian, Chance, Chase, Jake, Reese, Little Jason, Rylan, Alexis and Zoie'Ann; and a slew of nieces and nephews.
Arrangements will be made for a memorial celebration at a later date in Tierra Amarilla. In lieu of flowers and cards, please send donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at stjude.org or Shriners Hospitals for Children at shrinershospitalsforchildren.org.
Sonny's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, 505-325-8688.
