Annie Bonney

Annie Mae Bonney

Born February 25, 1936 in Carson, New Mexico, to the parents of the late Phyllis and Jack Bonney of Bisti, NM. She was deceased on April 9, 2020, at San Juan Regional Medical Center. She was never married or had any children. She has been battling health issues over the last year.

Her occupation was a homemaker and she raised sheep’s. She enjoyed sewing, she also made be’ezo which was a bundle of stiff grass for Navajo to use a brush used by Native to brush hair with.  While she was herding sheep, she would collect these long grasses to make the be’ezo. She enjoyed attending gathering. She love to travel and visit family when she could.  She was loved by her family and many relatives. She was the oldest of 10 sibling.

A very special thank you for my aunt Bernita, and Garrick for taking care of her back in Bisti home.

During the time she was in the hospital or the nursing home, I want thank the following for taking the time to visit and check on her. That would have been John J. Bunion, Roselynn Hogue, my late cousin Larry Bonney, Emma Bonney, Emily and Lucinda Kitseallyboy for checking on her and making sure she was okay. Also if I forgot anyone again the family would like to thank you for visiting her.

Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 this will only be a grave site service due to restriction set with the gathering of people at this time.

The Burial will be at St. Luke’s Cemetery in Huerfano, NM.

Rev. Irene Velarde will conduct the gravesite service. Only pall bears and five family member allowed at the grave site.

A memorial dinner will be set at a later date once the people can gather again. We will make an announcement when this will be.

Viewing will take place April 15, 2020 from 9:00 am to 10:00 a.m., only the immediate family members. Donation may be taking over the phone by Calling Cope Memorial Chapel in Kirtland, New Mexico at 505 598-9636, or cash donation during the viewing.
