Andrew "Andy" Michael Diaz Sr

Andy Diaz Sr. passed away on Saturday September 24, 2016 in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He was 63. He was born on July 2, 1953 in Gallup, New Mexico to Gilbert Diaz and Marcia Martinez Diaz.
Mr. Diaz was a heavy equipment operator for McKinley County School District. He was a former umpire for youth baseball, he was a devoted catholic and served as a 4th degree Knight of Columbus, Council #1783, Assembly #686. He enjoyed casinos in Las Vegas, Nevada. He enjoyed hanging out with his buddies. He was devoted to his family, and loved their time together. He was loved and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his daughters; Bernadette and her husband Eric, and Melanie Diaz both of Portales, New Mexico. His companion; Carol Sanches of their home in Jamestown. His grandchildren; Meika Diaz-Gallegos, Angelina Gallegos, Alysia Diaz, KC Diaz, Alivia Gonzales, Dominique Chidester, Adrian Wauneka, and Quinn Wauneka. His siblings; Frank Diaz, Arthur Diaz, Robert Diaz, Danny Diaz, Virginia Sena, Dolores Diaz, Gloria Diaz-Garcia, and Concha Montano. Along with numerous other relatives that survive him.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Gilbert and Marcia Diaz. His son; Andrew Diaz Jr. His brothers; Ernest Diaz, and Gilbert Diaz.
On Wednesday September 28, 2016 at Cope Memorial Chapel a visitation will be held from 4-6 pm. Then at 7:00 pm a Rosary Vigil will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, led by Michael Schaff. On Thursday September 29, 2016 at Sacred Heart Cathedral at 11:00 am, a Mass will be celebrated by Father Matthew Keller. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery. A reception will then receive relatives and friends at the Knights of Columbus Hall.
Pallbearers include; Frank Diaz, Arthur Diaz, Robert Diaz, Danny Diaz, David Montoya, KC Diaz, Eric Gallegos, Herman Gonzales.
Honorary Pallbearers include; Chewy Vargas, Joe Vargas, Alfred Olivar, Gary Mesich, Terry Mesich, Tommy Saucedo, Gus Gomez, Ray Gomez, Socorro Aragonez, Art Diaz, Roman Herrera, and his many, many other friends.
Cope Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
