Amalia Chacon (Chacon) Serrano

January 3, 1923 — October 8, 2014

Amalia (Chacon) Serrano, 91, of Farmington our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away Wednesday, October 8, 2014 at her home. Amalia was born January 3, 1923 in Gallina, New Mexico the daughter of Tomas Chacon and Carmelita (Chavez) Chacon.
Amalia was a wonderful mother and homemaker who loved her family very much. She enjoyed crocheting, canning and was a great cook. She enjoyed camping with her family and going to the family ranch. Amalia was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Parrish and also attended St. Mary's Catholic Parrish. She'll be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
She is survived by 3 sons and 6 daughters: Manuel (Sally) Serrano, Marcia (Arnold) Graham, Carmelita Shay (Winston Cole), Louisa (Benancio) Rivera, LeRoy (Jo Ellen)Serrano, Sandra (Mario) Quevedo, David (Exilda) Serrano, Becky David and Myra (Ron) Martinez; 29 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren; 3 brothers Cosme (Arcalia) Chacon of Gallina, Zebedeo (Lucinda) Chacon also of Gallina and Alcario (Rosalia) Chacon of Ilaves, and a sister-in-law Lucy Chacon; numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Preciliano (Pres) Serrano, a sister Mary Sandoval, 3 brothers Ramon Chacon, Patricio Chacon and Amadeo Chacon.
Rosary will be recited Friday, October 10, at 7:00 p.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Parrish, 414 N. Allen in Farmington.
Mass of Christian Burial is Saturday, October 11th at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Parrish, 414 N. Allen in Farmington with Father Frank Chacon as celebrant. She will be taken and laid to rest next to her husband Pres at Greenlawn Cemetery in Farmington. Pallbearers are Kevin Serrano, Jerome Serrano, Julian Serrano, Ehrick Graham, Mikal Quevedo, Joseph Martinez, Charles Shay, Luis Rivera and Preston David.
Amalia's services are entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St., (505) 325-8688.
