Alvis Ray Williams

Alvis "Ray" Williams, 84, of Bloomfield, passed from this life on Sept. 27, 2016, in Farmington, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Oct. 16,1931, in Anadarko OK, to Leonard and Winne Williams. Ray was a Veteran of the US Army serving in the Korean War. After Leaving the service he moved to Durango, Co., to work in the oil field, this is where he met the love of his life Elizabeth "Liz" Garcia. They married in 1954, and moved to Bloomfield in 1961, this is where they built their home and raised their two daughters. Ray spent his entire career working in the oil and gas industry. After his retirement, Ray and Liz spent their summers at there cabin in Alaska. One of Ray's hobbies was fixing up old tractors. About 7 years ago, he was blessed with finding out he had a son, when his son Mike Laws did some research to locate his biological father. The family embraced the news and Mike

Ray was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Doug Williams and sister, Kathlyn Harris. He is survived by his wife of 61years, Elizabeth Williams; daughters, Ginger Schofield (Willie), Shirley Anderson (Jay); son, Mike Laws, and brother Ronald Williams

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 5, at St Mary's Catholic Church in Bloomfield. Ray's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., in Farmington. (505)325-8688.
