Allen L. Cannon Sr. "Pop," 90, died on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. He was born Aug. 10, 1923, to John and Mary Alice Cannon.
Allen and his wife Trudy (deceased) owned and operated Cannon Automatic Transmission Service (C.A.T.S. Transmission), from 1964 to 1999. Trudy, 68, passed away on June 6, 1998. He has four sons, Allen Cannon Jr. and wife Joan, John Cannon and wife Wanda (deceased). Charles Cannon and wife Shirley and Troy Cannon. He has six grandchildren. Prior to his passing there were five generations living; now there are only four.
Allen was a man of few words, he thought out loud, you knew what he was thinking, and you knew if he liked you or not, there was no pretense. He enjoyed his horses, being in the mountains, camping and hunting. He truly enjoyed the outdoors. He was born 50 years to late. He should have been a young a man of 20 in the 1880s when the cattle drives were in their hay day. He could ride all day, and was still ready to ride some more, earning the nick name "Iron bottom" from his close personal friends.
