Allan Val Jamison

September 25, 1955 — February 11, 2015

Allen Val Jamison passed away on February 11, 2015, after a long illness, at age 59. Born September 25, 1955, Val was a lifelong resident of Farmington. Son of Allen Guy and Rita Reid Jamison, he was a member of a very large extended family that settled in the basin in 1889. Val loved all that the county had to offer and was an avid fisherman, hunter and camper. He was a passionate cook and proud of his Irish ancestry. He began his career in the oil and gas industry as a young boy tagging along with his Dad to drilling rigs from Texas to Wyoming but loved coming home the best. In 2002, Val combined his love of oil and gas with is passion for protecting the surrounding open lands and joined the Bureau of Land Management as a Petroleum Engineer Technician, where he received multiple service awards. Val joined the US Army in 1974 and was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany. Where he witnessed the pre-unification tensions between his unit and the USSR forces.
Val's most defining characteristic was his huge heart. He was the first person to show up when someone was in need, he sat vigil at hospital beds and never declined someone call for help. Val was a loving husband for nineteen years to Sharon Kaye Jamison along with his children Allen, Mary, Carrie and step-children Bill and Kathy. In addition to his loving wife and parents Val is survived by brothers; Todd Thunell, Kevin Jamison; sisters Jill Hobbs, Christi Ulrich their spouses, ten nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 6-8 pm on Wednesday, February 18th at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., in Farmington. Funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 19th with Pastor Dave West officiating also at the Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home with burial immediately to follow at Kirtland Cemetery.
Pallbearers include brothers Todd and Kevin, nephews Nicholas Jamison and Matthew Jamison, brother-in-law Mike Ulrich and cousin, Joe Jamison.
