Albert Snow Jr.
Oct. 4, 1939 - July 19, 2015
Albert Snow Jr. received his passport for his final job on Sunday, July 19, 2015. His passport states he was born Oct. 4, 1939, in Casa Grande, Ariz., to Juanita Morgan and Albert R. Snow Sr.
He grew up in Casa Grande and married his high school sweetheart, Caroline Keltner. Albert was employed with El Paso Natural Gas Company, for 31 years during which time he was transferred to Jal, Bloomfield, Bethouia, Algeria and finally back to Kirtland. While living and working in the Farmington area, Albert enjoyed hunting, fly-fishing, traveling in their family motor home and sold an occasional piece of real estate. Going into business with his sons, Brian and Laine, Albert researched the petroglyphs of the Four Corners region. With his two sons, Albert recreated some of the forms they discovered in metal artwork, which can still be seen around the area today. He was a Beta Sigma Phi husband, a member of the Masonic Lodge and a lifetime member of B.P.O.E. #1747. Upon his retirement from E.P.N.G., he became a private contractor as a start up manager in natural gas production, petro-chemical and electrical generation industries. During his 17 years as a private contractor, he worked in the jungles of Peru, Argentina, the deserts of Algeria, Qatar, Kuwait, Iraq, Egypt and tropical paradise of Barbados. While working in Iraq, during the Iraq Freedom Campaign, he served four days as an Iranian prisoner of war when the boat he was using to survey the Tigris River, between Iraq and Iran, was seized by Iranian forces. The Swiss Embassy was able to secure his release.
Albert spent 18 months working near the Artic Circle in the oil sands of Northern Canada and nine months in Korea working for the Hyundai Corp. During his intermittent returns to the U.S. He would present programs and social studies lessons to his wife's Ruth N. Bond Elementary classroom, bringing stories and souvenirs from places he was currently working to share with family and friends.
Albert is survived by his wife Caroline; two sons, Laine of Santa Fe and Brian and daughter-in-law Donna of Casa Grande; three grandchildren, Coby, Morgan and Dillon; and two sisters, Linda Turnball of Glenpool, Okla., and Cathy Larchey of Bethany, Okla.
Cremation has already taken place and a memorial at the family home is planned for a later date.
Albert's care is entrusted to Alternative Choice Burial and Cremation, 804 N. Dustin Ave. in Farmington, 505-325-9611. Those who wish to express their condolences may do so at www.serenityandcompany.com http://www.serenityandcompany.com.
