Alan Charles Schofield, 68, of Cuba passed away on Friday Oct.16, 2015 in Cuba. He was born July 24, 1947 in Farmington to Charles and Mary Alice (Horvath) Schofield. After high school Alan earned his veteran status in the US Armed Forces, serving during the Vietnam War. Following his military career in both the Army and Air Force, he found his life's passion with the police force where he retired after 30 years as a Lieutenant with the Detective Division of the San Juan County Sheriff's Department. Alan was also a life- time member of the San Juan Sheriff posse, were he served in many different roles. Alan was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Alice Schofield. He is survived by his wife Joan Schofield; son Cade Schofield; daughters Laurie (Mike) Hatting, Kristie Schofield, and Connie Schofield, his Father Charles (Gwen) Schofield; brothers George (Kathy), Bruce, Johnny (Val), Robert and Larry (Kathy) Schofield; sister Anita (Mike) Hughes; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren who will greatly miss him. A viewing will be from 6:00pm to 8:00pm Wednesday Oct. 21, at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home 103 E. Ute St. Farmington. Services for Alan will be 10:00am on Thursday Oct. 22 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 400 W. Apache St. with interment to follow at the La Plata Cemetery, La Plata NM on highway 170. Alan is the care of Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home 103 East Ute Street, Farmington, (505) 325-8688.
